With new SRV-1 Mobile Surveillance Robot you can explore the dangerous terrain of your home or office. This palm sized robot packs tank-like treads a 1000MIPS 500MHz Blackfin BF537 processor and a mini video camera Omnivision OV9655 1.3 megapixel 160×128 to 1280×1024 resolution. Using 802.11b/g wi-fi the SRV-1 interfaces wirelessly with a remote PC. The Java-based console software includes a built-in web server to monitor and control the SRV-1 via a web browser from anywhere in the world, as well as archive video feeds on demand or on a scheduled basis. Toyota Motor Corp and a research body of the University of Tokyo have created a robot prototype that handles household chores. The robots measures 155cm, and weighs 130kg. It has two arms, five recognition cameras and laser sensors and gets around on wheels. The research team have said they will keep improving the robot and hope to start marketing it in around seven years’ time. (more…)

Vstone will finally start selling their huge Blackox robot in September. Only 30 Blackox robot will be produce and 15 are already reserved. The price of Vstone’s Blackox robot will be roughly 4700€. Blackox robot is only 44 centimeters tall, but he has a respectable 22 joints, gyro sensors, and an accelerometer, as well as glowy LED eyes and pointy horns. (more…)
