Lenovo has introduced the ThinkPad W700, a 17-inch widescreen mobile workstation engineered with game-changing technologies and innovations to exceed the demands of the most data and graphics-intensive users. Supporting the latest Intel processor technologies including the upcoming mobile quad core processor, the mobile workstation can be configured with up to 8 GB of memory with an additional 2 GB of Intel Turbo Memory. Lenovo also offers models with Intel® vPro™ technology for complete manageability. The mobile workstation can be equipped with dual internal hard drives, including solid state drive storage. The ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation offers both the NVIDIA® Quadro® FX 2700M and 3700M Open GL graphics processors with up to 1 GB of dedicated video memory for exceptional graphics performance in a 17-inch mobile workstation. Lenovo is now also entering the fast growing list of sub $500, under 3 pound, underpowered devices that is sure to pique the interests of mobile users who already own a laptop.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a 10 inch netbook with Atom CPU and 80GB HDD. The price-point of the S10 is under $500 to compete with the MSI Wind U100 and others. A 9 inch version of the S10 will be available Outside the United States. The device can weigh as little as 2.4 pounds, depending on whether you use the 3-cell battery (3 hours) or a 6-cell one (6 hours). No one has figured out how to put a full-size keyboard on a UMPC, and the S10’s 85-percent one is no exception. (more…)

LG to introduce three notebooks equipped with Intel’s next-generation Centrino 2 processor. The XNOTE S510 series will be running on Intel Core 2 Duo T9400(2.53GHz, 6MB, FSB 1066MHz) processor with 3GB DDR3 memory, 2GB of Turbo memory, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT and a 15.4-inch LCD screen with LED backlight. Entertainment notebooks, the R410 and R510 are designed with a pattern of ‘Sunrise Gradation’. Other features included ‘Smart Recovery’ function, HDMI and e-SATA ports. (more…)

Sony has launched a new Sony VAIO Z series line of lightweight notebooks. The VAIO Z model gets a 13.1-inch widescreen display with Sony’s XBRITE-DuraView LCD technology that promises scratch resistant durability and 100% colour saturation. The notebook is weight just over 3 pounds. Construction-wise, there’s “a seamless sheet of brushed aluminum” on the keyboard panel and it’s housed in a durable carbon-fibre casing with G-Sensor shock protection. The Z series is also available in a dual channel 128GB solid state drive model that will go for around $2300, while the standard VAIO Z notebook will start at about $1800, available in the States in August. Weighing just over four pounds, the SR notebook boasts a 13.3-inch LED backlit widescreen display that has Sony’s XBRITE-ECO LCD technology. The Sony VAIO SR series is powered by new Intel Centrino2 technology. The other specs includes integrated 802.11n wireless, a built-in webcam and G-Sensor shock protection, memory Stick media/SD card slot, three USB ports, i.LINK IEEE-1394 port, microphone and headphone jack and a PC Card for transfer of files from external devices.
