Fujitsu Siemens Computers has launched the world’s first zero-watt monitor. The new Patent-pending zero-watt power save technology enabled Scenicview Eco monitors draw no power when not in use giving them the ability to save energy compared to standard monitors. According to Fujitsu Siemens, based on typical daily usage of 8 hours use and 16 hours standby throughout a year, the new monitor could save £6 per monitor per year. It is realy useful for business users looking to go green and save cash at the same time. The monitors offer up to 1680 x 1050 pixels resolution and a 5 millisecond response time as well as a HDMI interface for connecting HD devices. The 20-inch model is available now and its price is around £328. A 24-inch and 26-inch model will be available in September. (more…)

Elite Screens is introducing its Raptor projection screen, an electric floor-rising screen that conceals itself in a furniture cabinet. Showcased at CEDIA Expo 2008, the screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio. The motorized cross-rising system has variable height settings to accommodate different viewing environments. It also features Elite’s MaxWhite FG fiberglass-backed material for a flat surface in 1.1 gain. Each screen has a built-in 5-12V trigger for drop/rise synchronization with the projector’s power cycle along with IR/RF receivers for wireless operation. The screens are available in three sizes: 72, 84 and 100 inch. Both an RF remote and ZR800D IR universal learning remote are included. The ZR800D allows simultaneous screen operation with up to eight devices. The cabinet that houses the Raptor Screen is available in matte black or cherry wood finishes. Buffalo has announced the launch of its external BR-816SU2 and internal BR-816FBS 8x Blu-ray burners, both the devices are based on the Panasonic SW-5584 BD burner.
The new models from Buffalo feature 8x recording for single layer Blu-ray recordable discs (BD-R) and 2x for dual layer BD-R, BD-RE and LTH BD-R media. The BR-816SU2 external Blu-ray burner comes with 8MB buffer memory. It weighs 50×164×281 mm and weighs 1.8 kg. On other hand the internal BR-816FBS burner measures 146× 1.1× 90mm and weighs 900g.
