Nikon UK has announced new COOLPIX S60 - an advanced and elegant compact digital camera featuring a large 3.5-inch wide-screen LCD monitor with touch-panel control. At just some 97 (w) x 60 (h) x 22 (d) mm and weighing in at a mere 145 grams, the COOLPIX S60’s slim and compact body will travel happily anywhere. With a high-quality body, aluminium front panel and ‘altered wave’ shape, the integrated curved lines fit any hand-size perfectly. The price of nikon’s coolpix s60 is  £299.99 / €400 and it will be available in September 08.
Its 10-megapixel resolution offers clear, high-quality pictures with a NIKKOR 5x zoom lens for dynamic telephoto shooting. Quality shots are ensured through its Vibration Reduction capability and high ISO sensitivity. The COOLPIX S60 offers advanced features, such as Scene Auto Selector, enhanced Face Recognition, Smile Timer with blink detection, time-lapse movies, in-camera retouch and HDMi output.

The new COOLPIX S60 comes with improved Face-priority AF technology which recognises up to 12 faces for both superb portrait photography and crisp group images, even when faces are sometimes underexposed in backlit conditions, overexposed in strong sunshine or moving around. The camera’s movie function and time-lapse movie mode can shoot 30 fps at up to 640×480 pixels. The 17 Scene Modes, including modes for environments such as beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn and fireworks shows, mean you’ll capture even the trickiest subjects perfectly. If you need to retouch any picture, the camera has a wealth of image-editing tools built-in, including a memo function.

The camera boasts three functions to reduce image blur. High-performance Image Sensor Vibration Reduction (VR) produces sharp pictures with minimal blur using optical zoom and digital zoom. Its superior noise-reduction ISO technology allows a sensitivity range up to ISO 3200 with pixel addition for correct exposure and sharpness even in low-light conditions. Thirdly, with Nikon’s Best Shot Selector, the camera takes a maximum of 10 sequential shots and automatically saves the sharpest image. This is ideal for macro close-up shooting when camera shake is difficult to avoid.

The COOLPIX S60 comes with a strap, rechargeable battery and charger, USB and audio/video cables, a stylus touch pen, COOLPIX software suite and 2GB free online storage at Nikon’s ‘my Picturetown’. The camera is available in a range of body colours, there’s a colour to suit anyone’s style. This camera is available in Purplish Black, Bordeaux Red, Pearl White.
